Following the recent Russian attacks on Ukraine's power grid, Ukraine is planning to import a record amount of electricity since the beginning of the year, with no exports planned. "Imports: throughout the day from Romania, Slovakia, Poland, Hungary, and Moldova. The total volume is 18,649 MWh, with a maximum capacity of up to 1,537 MW in some hours. Exports: not planned," Ukrenergo reported on social media.
According to the company, power engineers are working around the clock to eliminate the consequences of Russian missile and drone attacks. "The debris is being cleared at all affected facilities. Where there is a permit from the State Emergency Service, emergency repair work is being carried out," the company said.
As stated, in Odesa region, "part of the equipment at one of the affected substations has been restored." This, according to the report, "increased the ability of high-voltage networks to transmit electricity and reduced the periods of consumption restrictions." Now in Odesa, hourly blackout schedules are in effect for household consumers.
"There are currently no consumption restrictions in Khmelnytskyi and Kryvyi Rih. But with an increase in consumption, power companies will be forced to apply outage schedules," Ukrenergo added.
As noted, the situation in Kharkiv region remains the most difficult. Power companies are working to gradually supply power to consumers under backup schemes.
As of this morning, 69 settlements in Odesa region are without electricity due to weather conditions. Due to hostilities and other reasons, 405 settlements are without power supply. Due to hostilities: new power outages in Dnipropetrovska and Donetska oblasts. Due to technological damages: there are power outages in Kirovohrad and Sumy regions, according to the NPC.
