In Poland, a Russian national was detained who, according to the intelligence services, was preparing to assassinate a U.S. citizen of Ukrainian origin in Warsaw. According to Donald Tusk, the assassination attempt was planned on orders from the Russian side. Polsat News reports this, writes UNN.

According to him, the potential victim was allegedly "inconvenient for Vladimir Putin's regime." The assassination attempt was reportedly prevented "at the last moment" — the suspect was detained as early as August 7.
"This is the first case in which someone, on orders from Russia, decided to attempt to assassinate an American citizen in the territory of another NATO country—specifically in Poland, in Warsaw," Tusk stressed.
The Prime Minister of Poland recalled that Russia is waging a hybrid war against Western European countries that support Ukraine, and there is reason to expect such situations to recur.
"Unfortunately, we must proceed from the assumption that Putin's regime will try to eliminate people who are inconvenient for various reasons, in various corners of the world," he said.
Tusk assured that the Polish intelligence services are prepared for similar scenarios to arise in the future.
"Our actions in this direction will be extremely intensive in order to prevent possible further attempts directed against Polish citizens or citizens of other states on the territory of our country. I have already discussed this in detail with the minister-coordinator for the intelligence services... In the future, we will probably also face such pressure, so very hard work lies ahead of us to avoid the worst-case scenarios," the head of the Polish government concluded.
