Zaporizhzhia region plans to build at least 10 shelters, so-called "underground schools," by the end of the year, each with a capacity of about 1,000 students per shift.
At least 10 shelters for students, such as "underground schools", are planned to be built in Zaporizhzhia region, where about a thousand children can study per shift. This was announced by the head of Zaporizhzhia RMA Ivan Fedorov during a telethon, UNN reports .
"When we talk about the resumption of offline learning in Zaporizhzhia Oblast, we primarily mean safe learning, of course," says Ivan Fedorov.
According to him, today his team is finishing submitting documents to the Ministry of Education and they will fight to get as much money as possible and build a shelter.
"We can say that these will be safe "underground schools" in the Zaporizhzhia region.
The goal is to build at least 10 of them by the end of the year. Each school will have about a thousand students per shift. So, if we fulfill the plan we set out to do, 10 thousand students will be able to study in the new schools by the end of the year," - said Fedorov
Mr. Fedorov emphasized that their overall goal is to reach 50,000 students who are currently in Zaporizhzhia Oblast and are unable to study offline.
"We have to repair our simpler shelters and repair the shelters that are in schools and kindergartens and employers located in the city of Zaporizhzhia, Zaporizhzhia region," he added.
