Winter with snow rages in the Carpathians in mid-April - tourists are advised against hiking

Winter has returned to the Carpathians at the end of April - it snowed in the highlands, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Ivano-Frankivsk region reported on Tuesday, advising travelers to refrain from hiking, writes UNN.

"Even in April, it's real winter in the mountains. Despite the calendar spring, winter weather conditions persist in the highlands," rescuers noted.

Today, as stated, difficult weather conditions are observed on Mount Pip Ivan Chornohirskyi: cloudy, foggy, north wind 8 m/s, air temperature -8°C, snow is falling.

Snowy weather is also reported in local public groups and in Vorokhta.

"Under such conditions, visibility sharply deteriorates, and the risk of hypothermia and disorientation increases," the State Emergency Service emphasized.

Rescuers, as reported, strongly recommend:

• refrain from going to the highlands;
• always check the weather forecast before traveling;
• register tourist routes and inform relatives about your plans;
• have the necessary equipment and communication devices with you.

"Be sure to install the mobile application "Mountain Rescue" - it allows you to quickly transmit coordinates and call for help in case of danger," the State Emergency Service noted.

"Weather conditions in the mountains can be dangerous even for experienced tourists: slippery slopes, trails hidden under snow, and the risk of hypothermia. When planning a trip to the mountains, take into account the weather conditions and do not underestimate their variability. Take care of yourselves!" - rescuers emphasized.
