After defeating Tyson Fury in a rematch, Oleksandr Usyk compared this fight to the previous one, noting that although the fight was easier than the first one, it was still not easy. The Ukrainian defended his WBA, WBC and WBO titles by unanimous decision. The boxer said this at a press conference after the fight, according to a UNN correspondent.
Details
It was Fury's second defeat in his professional career. During the fight, Fury had a record weight of 127.4 kg, which is 24.9 kg more than Usyk. After the fight, Tyson and his promoter Frank Warren said that the judges gave Usyk a "Christmas present".
At a press conference after the fight, Usyk shared his impressions:
"I didn't think about it (the victory - ed.) I just boxed, continued (to do - ed.) what the coach told me to do. No, it was lighter. It wasn't easy, but it was easier (than the previous one - ed.)," Usyk said.
He also expressed his respect for Fury, with whom he considers himself "best friends," emphasizing that Tyson made him stronger.
Regarding Fury and Warren's accusations of incorrect judging, Usyk replied: "Uncle Frank is blind. If Tyson says it's a Christmas present - well, let him. I won thanks to God, my coaches and my team.
Oleksandr also commented on Fury's record weight, joking that Fury weighed himself in a shirt, jacket, with a cap on his head and boots. Perhaps with a cheeseburger in his pocket.
Usyk said that he has the strength to move on in his career and did not rule out the possibility of a fight with Daniel Dubois, saying that he had nothing to say to the Briton. This victory was the 23rd in Usyk's career, nine of which were by decision, including two against Fury.
