The U.S. Department of Homeland Security stated that new clarifications regarding Green Card processing will not have a significant impact on highly skilled professionals and other applicants who can benefit the American economy. This was reported by Bloomberg, according to UNN.

The department emphasized that the guidance released last week by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) does not introduce new restrictions, but merely confirms existing law and established practice.
Earlier, a USCIS spokesperson stated that most foreign nationals temporarily in the U.S. seeking permanent resident status must return to their home countries to file documents. This statement caused concern among immigrants and employers who feared a tightening of legal immigration policy.
Following criticism, authorities provided additional clarifications
In a new statement, DHS noted that the requirement will not apply to individuals who serve the U.S. national interest or provide economic benefits to the country. It also emphasized that no qualified applicant will be denied the opportunity to obtain a Green Card because of these rules.
Immigration attorneys reported that following the initial statement, they received numerous inquiries from clients who feared a potential restriction on legal immigration.
