According to the UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission, in March 2024, at least 604 civilians were killed or injured in Russian shelling in Ukraine, which is 20% more than in February.

According to the UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission in Ukraine, at least 604 civilians were killed or injured in March 2024  as a result of the war, a 20 percent increase compared to February 2024. UNN reports this with reference to the report of the mission. 

The March increase in civilian casualties was mainly due to attacks by the Russian armed forces using missiles and ammunition throughout Ukraine and intensified aerial bombardment near the front line

According to the UN, at least 57 children were killed or injured in March as a result of the war, twice as many as in February. Children have been affected, in particular, by the increased use of guided and unguided aerial bombs by Russia.

According to the UN, at least 28 civilians, including 7 agricultural workers, were killed and injured by mines and explosive remnants of war . The beginning of the spring agricultural season appears to have increased the risk for farmers who have begun to cultivate their land.

In March 2024, large-scale coordinated attacks on critical infrastructure destroyed or damaged at least 20 energy facilities across the country, temporarily disrupting access to electricity for millions of people in large cities and rural areas. Water supply has also been disrupted in some areas," the UN emphasized. 

Overall, since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the Monitoring Mission has recorded 10810 killed and 20556 wounded civilians.
