In the city of Okhtyrka, a measure of restraint was imposed on a 59-year-old man, the driver of a CHEVROLET CAPTIVA, who killed a 6-year-old boy. By a court decision of July 17, 2024, at the request of the investigator and prosecutor of the Okhtyrka District Prosecutor's Office, the man was held in custody without the right to bail.
The incident occurred on July 15, 2024, at about 18:15 on a city street. The driver of the car hit a child who was playing near the yard, and then drove away from the scene. Unfortunately, the boy's injuries were fatal.
After prompt police intervention, the driver was identified and detained. An expert examination revealed that the driver was intoxicated at the time of the accident.
The man is suspected of violating traffic safety rules by driving a vehicle while intoxicated, which caused the victim's death. The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by the Okhtyrka Police Department.
