Man detained for injuring police officers with a grenade during arrest

In Dnipropetrovsk region, a man detonated an F-1 grenade during his arrest, injuring five police officers. The attacker was detained under three articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
In the Dnipropetrovsk region, following the detonation of a grenade by a man during his arrest and the wounding of 5 police officers, three criminal proceedings have been initiated on the fact of encroachment on the lives of law enforcement officers, the National Police reported, writes UNN.

"According to this fact, information has been entered into the Unified Register of Pre-trial Investigations under Article 348 (encroachment on the life of a law enforcement officer, a member of a public formation for the protection of public order and the state border or a serviceman), Article 15 Part 2, Article 115 Part 2 Point 1 (attempted intentional murder), Part 1 Article 263 (illegal handling of weapons, ammunition or explosives) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine," the police stated.
The 35-year-old assailant, as indicated, was detained. The issue of serving the suspect with a notice of suspicion is being resolved.
Case summary
The day before, on April 21, in the morning, the police received a report that a resident of the Synelnykove district was in a state of severe alcoholic intoxication and claimed to have two grenades. Upon arriving at the scene, the police began negotiations with the man. When the negotiations yielded no results, they began the arrest, during which the man threw an F-1 grenade at the law enforcement officers, the police reported.
As a result of the explosion, five police officers were wounded. All of them sustained shrapnel wounds of varying severity and were hospitalized, where they are receiving necessary medical care.
The police detained the assailant and seized another grenade. During the inspection of the explosion site, grenade fragments and a fuse were recovered.
All circumstances of the incident are being established.
