This year, more than 70 samples of domestic unmanned aerial systems have been approved for operation in Ukraine

Since the beginning of 2024, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has codified and authorized more than 70 models of domestic unmanned of domestically produced unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), which perform various reconnaissance, artillery fire adjustment and destruction of enemy targets.

"In 6 months of 2024, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine codified and authorized more than 70 samples of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). All these drones are domestically produced. For comparison, last year the Ministry approved about 60 UAVs for various purposes," the Defense Ministry said in a statement.
It is noted that these drones have become important assets on the battlefield, performing a wide range of tasks:
- Reconnaissance of enemy positions both on the contact line and in the enemy's rear;
- Adjustment of artillery fire with high accuracy;
- Striking at enemy vehicles, fortifications and arsenals.
The agency also said that according to the Main Directorate for Life Cycle Support of Arms and Military Equipment, the procedure for obtaining a NATO nomenclature code for a new model of weapons and military equipment has been simplified to 10 days. Samples of domestically produced weapons and military equipment that have been codified are allowed to be purchased at the expense of the state budget.
