The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) reported the completion of a new phase of strikes against Iran, during which American forces struck dozens of targets in various areas of the country. This is stated in a CENTCOM statement, reports UNN.

According to the command, the strikes were aimed at weakening Iran's ability to carry out attacks on international shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.

During the operation, American forces struck air defense systems, coastal radar stations, missile and drone complexes, as well as small military boats.
For this, the U.S. used fighter jets, Navy ships, as well as air- and sea-based attack drones. CENTCOM noted that naval strike drones were used for the first time.
The command emphasized that the Strait of Hormuz is one of the world's key maritime trade routes and is not under Iran's control.
