Every diplomatic decision today has a human dimension. It is about children, civilians, and prisoners of war waiting to return from Russian captivity. This was stated by the Commissioner for Human Rights of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Dmytro Lubinets during the annual meeting of heads of foreign diplomatic institutions of Ukraine - "Restoring Peace and Ukraine's Leadership", reports UNN.

Details

The Ombudsman highlighted several important points that deserve special attention:

  • Return of Ukrainian children. 20,610 cases of deportation and forced transfer have already been confirmed. Within the Bring Kids Back UA framework, 2,425 children have been brought back, of which 465 - with the assistance of the Ombudsman's Office;
    • Thousands of Ukrainians still remain in Russian captivity;
      • Foreigners from 51 countries have been taken prisoner in Ukraine, fighting as part of the army of Russian occupiers;
        • Over 8.4 million of our citizens are currently outside Ukraine.

          The world expects facts, evidence, and strong legal arguments. That is why we must work together - the Ombudsman's Office, diplomats, international partners. We have one goal: to bring our people back and do everything to make Russia answer for its crimes. This is the path to a just peace

          - stated in Lubinets' post.
