The Ministry of Finance expects that the EIB will soon allocate 250 million euros to support Ukraine's energy sector

The Minister of Finance of Ukraine held an online meeting with the EIB management to discuss the implementation of cooperation programs and new support projects, in particular in the energy sector worth EUR 250 million.
On Monday, July 22, Minister of Finance of Ukraine Sergii Marchenko met online with the head of the European Investment Bank (EIB) Nadezhda Calvino and the head of the EIB's representative office in Ukraine Jean-Erik de Zagon. This was reported by UNN with reference to the statement of the Ministry of Finance.

The parties discussed the state of implementation of cooperation programs and new support projects. The agency emphasizes that Ukraine and the EIB are working hard to prepare new financial agreements.
The European Investment Bank systematically supports Ukraine in priority areas. And we continue to work to expand our partnership. In total, the EIB's public sector initiatives include 26 projects worth EUR 5.3 billion
It is noted that since the beginning of the full-scale war, the volume of EIB investments in all areas has amounted to about 2 billion euros.
The Bank's financial support is aimed at meeting the country's priority needs, including the rehabilitation of critical infrastructure and restoration of the energy system.
The Minister of Finance emphasized the urgent need to support Ukraine's energy sector, as well as to develop new projects to restore and develop the electricity sector in Ukraine. The Bank is expected to approve a EUR 250 million support package for Ukraine's energy sector in the near future

Regarding current initiatives, the parties noted the EIB's financing of small and medium-sized enterprise projects with three Ukrainian banks: "Ukrgasbank, Procredit Bank, and Ukreximbank.
They also discussed preparations for the signing of the Financial Agreement between Ukraine and the EIB on the project "Implementation of the Emergency Assistance System for the Population by a Single Number 112".
They also discussed a number of potential joint projects, including those aimed at providing housing for Ukrainian citizens.
The parties agreed to continue working on the effective implementation of current and potential projects and attracting new investments in Ukraine.
