The Ministry of Culture granted the status of critical TV channels participating in the United News telethon, which allowed their employees to receive deferrals from mobilization.
The TV channels participating in the "United News" telethon have the status of being critical to the functioning of the economy, so their employees can now receive a reservation from mobilization. This was reported by UNN with reference to the orders of the Ministry of Culture.
Details
Since the beginning of the year, the Ministry of Culture has approved a number of decrees that confirmed the status of TV channels participating in the United News telethon as critical to the functioning of the economy and the livelihoods of the population during the special period.
In particular, according to the documents, LLC "My-Ukraine" (My-Ukraine TV channel), LLC TRK Studio 1+1 (1+1 TV channel), LLC MK TRK (ICTV TV channel), PJSC Inter TV Channel (Inter TV channel), State EnterpriseParliamentary TV Channel Rada(Rada TV channel) and Joint Stock Company National Public Broadcasting Company of Ukraine (Suspilne Novyny TV channel) meet the criteria of enterprises, institutions and organizations that are critical for the functioning of the economy and ensuring the vital activity of the population during a special period, and have confirmed this status.

It should be noted that if the company is recognized as a critically important enterprise for the functioning of the economy and ensuring the livelihood of the population in a special period, conscripted employees of such companies receive the possibility of reservation from mobilization.

This status has also been granted and confirmed since the beginning of 2024: the representative office of the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), the Ukrainian National News Agency Ukrinform, Novy Kanal LLC, Starline Media LLC, STB TV Channel LLC, Khmarochos Media LLC, UNIAN TV LLC, the representative office of Deutsche Welle, TET TV Company, NBM TV Company, as well as the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine and a number of other enterprises, institutions and organizations under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Culture.

The United News telethon was launched shortly after Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.
It merged the state-run Rada channel, Public Broadcasting, and the major commercial channels ICTV/STB, 1+1, Inter, and Ukraine 24 (later replaced by We-Ukraine). The channels divided their airtime into six-hour slots.

The acting Minister of Culture and Information Policy Rostyslav Karandeyev said that recently questions have been raised about the "United News" telethon losing its relevance, so the TV channels involved in the project are currently considering options for changing the format.
