The Ministry of Culture commented on the illegal demolition of the Zelensky estate in the center of Kyiv
Kyiv • UNN
The Zelenskys' estate, a significant historical building, is being illegally demolished in Kyiv. The Ministry of Culture did not grant permission for the dismantling and calls on law enforcement to pay attention to the attempted destruction of the historic building.
The Zelensky mansion in the center of Kyiv on Konys'koho Street has been illegally demolished. Currently, the house does not have the legal status of a monument or a “newly discovered cultural heritage site,” but it is located in the historical area of the city and is recognized as a significant historical building called the “Manor House” of the second half of the nineteenth century, the Ministry of Culture reported, UNN reports.

It is noted that the Ministry did not receive any project proposals for this building, so the ICIP did not provide any approvals of project documentation for new construction on this site, or for the reconstruction of the building, or for its dismantling.
The most effective way to protect historic buildings is to grant them the status of a monument. This involves preliminary research and the preparation of accounting documentation for submission to the cultural heritage protection authorities.
Such a submission from the NGO “Heritage Kyiv” was registered with the ICIP on July 19, the day when construction equipment began to demolish the house.
We plan to take all measures provided for by law and call on law enforcement agencies to immediately pay attention to the attempted destruction of a significant historical building. We are ready to cooperate to bring to justice those responsible for violating the law.
It is emphasized that the destruction of historic buildings is a cynical violation of monument protection and urban planning legislation and the State Building Code. This is a crime against our heritage and culture.
