The director of the Paton Institute of Electric Welding said that the installation of the coat of arms on the monument had not been agreed with experts. The welds already show signs of corrosion.
The installation of the Ukrainian coat of arms on the shield of the Motherland monument in Kyiv was not coordinated with experts from the Paton Institute of Electric Welding. The director of the Institute, Igor Krivtsun, said this in an interview with LIGA.net, UNN reports.

"They welded the trident, but no one has contacted us. And the problem is that where they welded, there is wind, there is no protection, and all these seams are at risk - they are already yellow, even though it is stainless steel," said the director.
Welding work reportedly should have been performed using a technology developed by the Institute's specialists, "now there is a threat that the welds may be damaged by corrosion.
According to Mr. Krivtsun, they tried to get approval from the Institute after the welding work was done. But the Institute of Electric Welding did not give its opinion. "I said, 'No, guys, you worked, you are responsible. And recently, we inspected the monument with drones and saw that there was already corrosion," the director said.

The dismantling of the Soviet coat of arms from the Motherland monument began at the end of last July . And on August 6 last year, a trident appeared in place of the Soviet coat of arms.
