The Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine revealed the details of the operation in Kursk region, where the enemy has concentrated significant forces. Over 7900 occupants and 1101 pieces of equipment were destroyed in the three months of the operation.

After the start of the operation in the Kursk region, Russia wants Ukrainian troops to leave the area, has concentrated about 45,000 troops and is trying to increase their number, and due to the lack of its own forces, the enemy plans to attract troops from the DPRK, said the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrsky on Wednesday in social networks, UNN reports.

Details

"In May of this year, intelligence confirmed the enemy's plan to attack in the Sumy direction from the Kursk region to create a so-called "buffer zone" in northern Ukraine. This was supposed to be a continuation of the Russian operation in the Kharkiv sector. That is why it was decided to conduct a preemptive offensive with the transfer of hostilities to the enemy's territory in the Kursk region," Syrsky said.

"Now Russia wants Ukrainian troops to withdraw from this territory. The enemy has concentrated about 45 thousand troops there. And it is trying to increase their number. Russia's own troops are not enough in this area, so they are trying to attract troops from North Korea," noted the Chief of the Armed Forces.

According to him, almost three months into the operation, as of November 5, 2024, the enemy's losses in the Kursk sector amounted to 20842 people, including 7905 killed, 12220 wounded, and 717 captured. During the same period, 1101 units of enemy weapons and military equipment were destroyed. Among them: 54 tanks, 276 armored combat vehicles, 107 cannons and mortars, 5 MLRS and 659 vehicles.

"Russian occupants wanted to seize more territory in the north of Ukraine in Sumy region. However, the Ukrainian Defense Forces took a preventive step and continue to destroy the enemy on its territory. About 2000 Ukrainian servicemen were awarded state decorations for their heroism and successful actions during the Kursk operation. Together we will win! Glory to Ukraine!" - Syrsky said.
