53 new foster families have been established in Ukraine since the beginning of this year. The same number of foster caregivers with their assistants are completing their training and will soon start working. According to UNN, this was reported by the Ministry of Social Policy.
Details
The Ministry of Social Policy has published the interim results of the project "Family for Every Child: Development of Family Foster Care," which aims to increase the number of foster families to 500 in a year and a half.
Currently, there are 341 foster families in Ukraine raising almost 700 children.
This is not enough, because there are many more children in need of temporary families
They noted that foster care is a service in communities that saves children from boarding schools. When parents find themselves in a difficult situation and are temporarily unable to fulfill their responsibilities, a foster family takes in children. And if returning to the biological family is not possible, children continue to grow up in a family environment while foster families or adoptive parents are being sought for them.
Recall
In May, Ukraine launched a unified state online platform, Ukraine for Every Child, to promote adoption and family-based forms of raising children deprived of parental care.
