A 26-year-old serviceman suspected of murdering and attempting to murder police officers in Vinnytsia region was taken into custody without bail.

The Vinnytsia City Court has remanded in custody without the possibility of bail a 26-year-old serviceman suspected of murder and attempted murder of police officers in Vinnytsia region. UNN reports with reference to the OGP.

"At the request of prosecutors, the court imposed a pre-trial restraint in the form of detention on the second suspect in the shooting of police officers in Vinnytsia region," the statement said.

The suspect is a 26-year-old serviceman. He is charged with murder and attempted murder of police officers, illegal handling of weapons and desertion.

During the hearing, the suspect Vitaliy said that he was married and had two children.

When asked by the judge what he had done, the suspect replied: "I committed a crime. I killed a person".

The prosecutor's office insisted on the application of pre-trial detention without the possibility of bail to two servicemen.

Context

According to the investigation, on April 20, at night, the suspects killed one police officer, injured another, and fled the scene while checking car . Law enforcement officers tracked them down and detained them in accordance with Article 208 of the CPC of Ukraine in the village of Lypetske, Podil district, Odesa region.

Subsequently, two servicemen were served with a notice of suspicion of murder and attempted murder of police officers in Vinnytsia region.

The State Bureau of Investigation is investigating the fact of desertion of military personnel involved in the shooting of law enforcement officers in Vinnytsia region on April 20.
