Shoigu's daughter spreads fake news about Apple and Google in a Russian textbook — Center for Strategic Communications

The daughter of former Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, Yulia Shoigu, became the editor of a textbook for Russian colleges and spread fake claims in it about Apple and Google, accusing them of large-scale surveillance of users. This was reported by the Center for Strategic Communications "Spravdi," according to UNN.

Yulia Shoigu became the editor of a life-safety textbook for Russian colleges, in which Apple and Google are accused of allegedly carrying out total surveillance of users—from reading SMS messages to accessing banking data, the microphone, and the camera. As the outlet "Mozhem Obyasnit" found, most of these claims are untrue

– the post says.

In particular, the agency emphasizes that Apple Pay does not provide the company with a bank card number. Access to SMS messages, the camera, and the microphone requires the user's permission.  In addition, operating systems notify users when these functions are being used.

Significantly, the textbook's authors provide a detailed account of the alleged threats posed by Western technologies, while completely ignoring the privacy issues surrounding the Russian state messenger MAX, about which experts have numerous concerns

As a reminder

The share of students in upper secondary school in the Russian Federation has fallen to 42.7%. Teenagers are being mass-recruited to produce drones instead of pursuing higher education.
