SBU: Cases opened against more than 100 UOC (MP) clergymen, 26 convicted - SBU

Since the beginning of the full-scale war, proceedings have been opened against more than 100 clergy of the UOC (MP). 50 of them were notified of suspicion, 26 received court sentences.
Since the beginning of the full-scale war, proceedings have been opened against more than 100 clergymen of the UOC (MP), almost 50 of them have already been notified of suspicion, and 26 have received court sentences. This was reported to UNN by the press service of the SBU.
"Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Russia, criminal proceedings have been opened against more than 100 clergymen of the UOC (MP) based on SBU materials, almost 50 of them have already been notified of suspicion, and 26 have received court sentences," the SBU reported.

The Verkhovna Rada has passed bill No. 8371 banning the activities of religious organizations affiliated with the Russian Federation. The law will enter into force in 30 days, but UOC-MP communities will have 9 months to break ties with the Russian Orthodox Church.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy saidthat he will talk with representatives of Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew in the coming days amid the adoption of a bill banning the activities of religious organizations associated with the Russian Federation.
The head of the SBU, Vasyl Malyuk , statedthat the SBU does not fight against clergy in general. The service has questions only to those who work against Ukraine, hiding behind their cassocks with FSB uniforms.
