Details
According to intelligence, the Russian Ministry of Digital Development is promoting the idea of mandatory paid email for entrepreneurs and self-employed individuals. Formally, this is explained by streamlining communication, but in fact, it is about creating a state-controlled communication channel.
Authorities tighten control and pressure on the IT sector
The SZR (Foreign Intelligence Service) notes that, in parallel, Russia is considering introducing additional payments for international internet traffic, as well as monetizing VPN services and sanctions against users who bypass blocking.
Companies that allow VPN traffic face exclusion from the register of accredited companies – which means losing key benefits and the risk of closure.
The SZR emphasized that in this way, Russia is forming a system where digital control is combined with financial pressure on citizens and businesses.
