Resistance is growing in occupied Crimea - acting presidential envoy

Due to the  full-scale invasion of Russia  , resistance in the occupied Crimea is increasing, as the more actions Ukraine takes to liberate the peninsula, the more this  resistance grows.

This was reported by the Acting Permanent Representative of the President of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea Olga Kuryshko to UNN .

Due to the full-scale invasion, the amount of resistance is increasing, because the more actions Ukraine takes to liberate Crimea, the more resistance grows in Crimea itself. This means that we are heard, seen, and are waiting for Ukraine's return to the liberated Crimea

She noted that, on the other hand, the issue of the way to liberate Crimea was actually already enshrined in the Strategy for De-occupation and Reintegration.

We are talking about a political and diplomatic way. At some point, when we had the opportunity, we talked about a possible military liberation, but now the situation is changing and there are not so many opportunities. Therefore, in principle, the modalities can be different, we do not deny either way, it just depends on the opportunities we have as a state

She also commented on the Russification of children in the occupied Crimea.

They (the Russians - ed.) are making the occupied Crimea a center of attraction, and they publicly declare this. That is, they are trying to organize events of all-Russian significance on the territory of the temporarily occupied Crimea and, on the contrary, to attract children from the territory of the Russian Federation and the newly occupied territories to the territory of the Crimean peninsula. Thus creating an illusion, a picture that this is a region of attraction for young people

Kuryshko noted that the occupiers want to ground themselves even more, put down roots even more and completely Russify Crimea.

On November 20, 2024, it was reported that President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine does not recognize any occupied territory as Russian, including those seized since 2014, and is not ready to give up Crimea in a peace deal. He emphasized that Crimea could be returned diplomatically, without significant human losses.

On December 2, in an interview with Kyodo News, Zelenskyy said that the Ukrainian army lacks the strength to return all the occupied territories, including Crimea, so diplomatic solutions are needed, which are possible only if there is sufficient force to deter new aggression.

In addition, Zelenskyy noted that the invitation to NATO should be for the whole of Ukraine , but the Alliance's action could be on the part of the territory controlled by Kyiv with future expansion.

This summer, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, said that Ukraine has a plan to return the temporarily occupied Crimea. According to him, Kyiv will do everything possible to achieve the internationally recognized borders of 1991.
