Putin congratulated Trump on his victory in the US presidential election and praised him for his courage. The Russian dictator declared his readiness to resume contacts with Western leaders.
Russian dictator Vladimir Putin has made his first comment on Donald Trump's victory in the US presidential election and congratulated him, UNN reports with reference to the BBC.
"You can treat him any way you want," Putin said at a meeting of the Valdai International Discussion Club.
According to the Russian president, he was greatly impressed by the way Trump behaved during the assassination attempt during the campaign: "He turned out to be a courageous man.
According to Putin, during Trump's first term as president, he was "completely hounded.
"I don't know what's going to happen now," he continued, recalling Trump's statements about his readiness to "help end the Ukrainian crisis.
"In my opinion, this deserves attention. And I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate him," Putin said.
He does not plan to call Trump, although he does not consider it "shameful.
"I just don't do it," Putin added, declaring his readiness to resume contacts with Western leaders.
