In Kherson region, almost half of the de-occupied territories have already been cleared of mines. At this rate, the right bank of the region will be completely cleared of Russian explosives by the end of 2025. The head of the Kherson RMA, Oleksandr Prokudin, said this on Friday, UNN reports.
Details
Since the beginning of the year alone, nearly 170,000 hectares of territory have been cleared of Russian explosives. To put it in perspective, approximately only about half of these areas were surveyed from the moment of de-occupation until the end of 2023. That is, almost half of the liberated territories have already been demined. This is more than 335 thousand hectares
According to him, in most cases, it is a matter of clearing fields where Ukrainian farmers can work.
According to Prokudin, more than 193,000 mines, shells and tripwires were found and destroyed in the surveyed areas alone.
He also said that two more remote demining vehicles have recently been added to the Kherson SES fleet.
"At this pace, the right bank (of Kherson region - ed.) will be completely cleared of Russian explosives by the end of 2025," Prokudin said.
