Parliament strengthens social protection for military and police officers

The Verkhovna Rada passed a law that strengthens social protection for servicemen and police officers, including allowing up to 12 months of treatment without undergoing a personal medical examination every 4 months and providing UAH 15 million in payments to the families of fallen defenders.
The Verkhovna Rada adopted the draft law "On Amendments to Certain Laws of Ukraine on Ensuring the Rights of Military and Police Officers to Social Protection". In particular, the document provides an opportunity to be treated for up to 12 months without the need to undergo a personal medical examination in 4 months. This was announced on Thursday by MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak, UNN reports.
The Parliament adopted the draft law No. 10313 on ensuring the rights of military and police officers to social protection. The total number of votes in favor is 296
According to Zheleznyak, the relevant committee has significantly improved the draft law:
- the possibility for servicemen to stay for treatment for up to 12 months, including abroad, without the need to personally undergo a military medical commission after four months, was supported;
- The law establishes a monetary payment of UAH 15 million to the family of a defender in the event of his death.
- In addition, according to Zhelezniak, all provisions prohibiting the military from disseminating information in the media and on the Internet have been removed for the second reading.
