The Ukrainian Oscar Committee is accepting applications for films to be considered for the 97th Academy Awards from August 8-28. Dmytro Sukholytkyi-Sobchuk was elected chairman of the committee out of 14 members of the Ukrainian Film Academy.

Ukraine has started accepting applications for films to participate in the Oscar selection process, the Ukrainian Oscar Committee announced on Wednesday, UNN reports.

"From August 8 to August 28, the Ukrainian Oscar Committee will accept applications for films to be nominated for the 97th Academy Awards of the American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in the Best International Feature Film category from Ukraine," the statement reads.

The Ukrainian Oscar Committee consisted of 14 people elected from among the members of the Ukrainian Film Academy. The chairman of the Ukrainian Oscar Committee was Dmytro Sukholytkyi-Sobchuk, who received the largest number of votes.
