Occupants shot 4 Ukrainian soldiers in Zaporizhzhia: Lubinets appealed to the ICRC and the UN

Last month, Russian soldiers shot 4 Ukrainian soldiers who surrendered in the village of P'yatykhatky, Zaporizhzhia region. Dmytro Lubinets, Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada for Human Rights, sent relevant letters to the ICRC and the UN to record the crime, UNN reports.

Russians shot four Ukrainian prisoners of war: a video of the execution is spreading in the media. It clearly shows unarmed Ukrainian soldiers leaving the destroyed building and surrendering, but the Russians mercilessly shoot them. According to preliminary information, this happened near the village of Piatykhatky on March 13. These actions of the Russian military violate the Geneva Convention on the Treatment of Prisoners of War and the norms of IHL

- Lubinets said.

He sent relevant letters to the ICRC and the UN to record the crime.

I emphasize that such executions are not an isolated case, but a systemic policy of the Russian Federation, which is encouraged at the highest level. Therefore, it is necessary not only to document such cases, but also to thoroughly investigate them and bring the perpetrators to justice

- added Lubinets.

Addition

Today, Associated Press published a story showing a video of the execution of Ukrainian soldiers.

According to the material, Ukrainian soldiers with machine guns came out of the destroyed building - one of them with his hands raised, surrendering to Russian troops - and lay face down.

Two drones - Ukrainian and Russian - filmed the scene from above the southern Ukrainian village of Pyatikhatki. The agency managed to obtain both videos, but the Russian side's was incomplete.

The video from the Ukrainian drone, which AP obtained from European military officials, was filmed by the Ukrainian 128th Mountain Infantry Brigade. It shows Russians briefly searching the prisoners. Two more Russians approach and consult with their comrades. One of them pauses to use the radio.

What happens next has been cut from the Russian video. One Russian approaches the prisoners, pulls out a pistol with one hand and starts shooting. Another soldier also shoots. While he is reloading, a third Russian joins him, firing at least two shots from close range.

Then the soldier who was reloading finishes off the four Ukrainians, methodically shooting each of them, one by one.

Russian military bloggers who posted the edited video said it showed the work of the assault unit of the 247th Airborne Regiment of Russia.

The publication claims that the shooting took place on March 13, the day when US representatives landed in Russia for ceasefire negotiations with the team of Russian dictator Vladimir Putin.

Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesman Georgiy Tykhyi said that Ukraine demands an investigation into war crimes after the publication of a video of the execution of Ukrainian prisoners of war by Russian troops, published by AP.
