"During the period April-August 2024, 23,448 male applicants aged 30+were expelled from higher educational institutions of Ukraine. The reasons for expulsion are poor academic performance, failure to appear in class, and so on. Directly based on the results of GSO inspections, 5,805 applicants were expelled, the rest - based on the results of internal systems for ensuring the quality of education of the universities themselves," said Deputy Minister of education and science Mikhail Vinnitsky.
He called it "obvious" that "those who were expelled are those 'students' who did not really plan to become students, but wanted to use this status to avoid other responsibilities.
""On the recommendation of the State Administrative Service of Ukraine, the National Police of Ukraine opened 8 criminal proceedings against officials of higher educational institutions. This is the DSAO data. But in fact, there are (unfortunately) more such productions," Vinnitsky said.
Also, according to him, the Ministry of education and science has deprived a number of higher educational institutions of their licenses to carry out educational activities. "The geography of cases is very wide: from Zaporozhye to Uzhgorod, from Nikolaev to Lviv. We continue to fight against dishonest businessmen who discredit higher education with their fake "institutions", which in 2023-2024 massively enrolled men of military age (especially at the age of 30+ and often in violation of licensing volumes), absolutely publicly declaring their prices for such actions.
