Ukraine's Foreign Ministry spokesperson said that Russia's signals of “peaceful proposals” are just a smokescreen to cover up aggression, Russia has not changed its plans to destroy Ukraine and is not ready for a constructive dialogue.

Signals from various Russian sources, including the international media, about Russia's "peace proposals" are a smokescreen to cover its aggression. Russia is seeking war. This was stated by Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesman Heorhiy Tykhyi during a briefing on Thursday, UNN reports.

"It is worth commenting seriously on the fact that recently we have been seeing signals from various Russian sources, international media, where they offer certain peace proposals, their visions. I want to emphasize that, in our opinion, all these statements, all these anonymous media appearances, are a smokescreen to cover up aggression. Russia has not changed its plans, it wants to destroy Ukraine in the same way, it speaks the language of ultimatums, it is not ready for any constructive dialogue, for peace. Russia is not ready for this," Tychy said.

He emphasized that Russia is seeking war.

"And anonymous commentators are released (by the Russian Federation - ed.) to the international media simply to create a smokescreen, a picture that some peaceful proposals are coming from them. We do not see such readiness. First, Russia needs to be forced to peace, to create conditions in which it will be forced to choose peace. As of now, we do not see such readiness on its part," Tikhiy said.

In addition, he commented on the Russian alleged "plan to divide" Ukraine, which has been spread in the media.

"As for the distribution maps (plan - ed.). Our partners did not tell us about any maps (plans - ed.) at the meetings, we did not hear this from them. This may be an indication either that they were not given such maps, or if someone tried to give them, they probably did not take it seriously, because nothing of the kind was raised with us at the meetings," Tikhiy said.

The spokesperson reminded that maps with the division of Ukraine are an old Kremlin technology that has been used for a long time.

"Ukraine is one and indivisible. There will never be any sorts, any parts, any divisions. Ukraine is united within its internationally recognized borders, so there are no maps or divisions to speak of. If someone has such morbid fantasies, we can only advise them to stay alone with these fantasies and not share them with anyone," Tikhiy said.
