On July 16, a 26-year-old Kyiv resident detonated a grenade in a residential area, damaging a car and apartment windows, but no one was injured. Law enforcement officers have already detained the man and charged him with hooliganism and illegal handling of ammunition.

On the night of July 16, an unknown person detonated a grenade in a residential area of the Dnipro district of the capital. Kyiv law enforcement officers have already detained the suspect. This was reported by UNN with reference to the statement of the National Police.

The agency said that on July 16, around 1 a.m., it was reported that an explosion had occurred in one of the courtyards, damaging a parked car and windows on the first and second floors of an apartment building.

There were no casualties as a result of the incident. 

The operational officer on duty immediately sent an investigative team from the main and territorial police departments, explosives experts and a dog handler with a sniffer dog to the address. At the scene, law enforcement officers found out that the explosion was caused by a live grenade.

As a result of priority operational measures, the police identified and detained the offender - a 26-year-old local resident. The police found out that the offender had taken the grenade from his 36-year-old friend and detonated it. Law enforcement officers searched the friend's place of residence and seized VOG grenade launchers and ammunition of various calibers. The police also detained him in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine

It is noted that currently criminal proceedings have been initiated under two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - Part 4 of Article 296 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Hooliganism) and Part 1 of Article 263 (Illegal handling of ammunition). 

Investigators of the Dnipro Police Department are preparing notices of suspicion to the detainees and will request the court to keep them in custody during the investigation.

The defendants face two to seven years in prison.

On July 7, it was reportedthat an unknown man threw a grenade at people from a car window in Lutsk on Kovelska Street. Later, law enforcement identified the person who threw the grenade on the roadway in Lutsk on July 7 and detained the man.
