Liver Onco 2026: A New Level of Interdisciplinary Collaboration in Liver Tumor Treatment
Kyiv • UNN
On May 15, 2026, the Liver Onco 2026 conference will be held in Kyiv with the participation of experts from the EU and the USA. Specialists will discuss new methods of treating liver tumors.

The Director General of the State Institution "O.O. Shalimov National Scientific Center of Surgery and Transplantology of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine", Academician of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine, Professor Oleksandr Yuriyovych Usenko spoke about the specialized event Liver Onco 2026.
Modern medicine increasingly requires not only deep specialization but also effective interdisciplinary interaction. Today, when the world faces the challenge of dominant oncological diseases, traditional methods often encounter the complexity of therapy and tumor resistance. It is precisely in the search for innovative approaches, at the intersection of different knowledge and practices, that a new quality of medical care is formed — this becomes vitally necessary in such a complex field as the treatment of liver neoplasms.
The idea of holding the specialized event Liver Onco 2026 did not arise by chance. After the XXV All-Ukrainian Congress of Surgeons in 2025, we received extremely powerful feedback from participants, particularly regarding sessions dedicated to abdominal surgery and hepatobiliary surgery. Active discussions, audience interest, and the practical value of the presented cases convinced us of the need to create a separate, deeply focused platform for discussing this very topic.
This is how the concept of Liver Onco 2026 emerged — an event covering the entire spectrum of modern approaches to the treatment of malignant liver tumors. We set an ambitious goal: within one event, to systematically consider all key diagnostic and treatment methods — from radical R0 resections and transplantation to modern minimally invasive interventions such as radiofrequency ablation of tumors (RFA), TACE (chemoembolization), to achieve good clinical results in the future.
Liver Onco 2026 is a challenge at the crossroads of specialties.
On May 15, 2026, a scientific and practical conference with international participation, organized within the framework of SHALIMOV Education & Science, will take place at Mercure Kyiv Congress Hall. The event will bring together surgeons, oncologists, hepatologists, interventional radiologists, pathologists, and other specialists involved in the management of patients with hepatobiliary oncopathology.
A special value of the conference is its international composition. Experts from Spain, Italy, Austria, Croatia, the USA, and Portugal will participate, which will allow integrating the best world practices into the domestic clinical context. Among the invited speakers are Alejandro Forner, Santi Lopez-Ben, Martin Montenovo, Hugo Pinto Marques, Danko Mikulic, Francesca Ratti.
The event program is designed to provide not only theoretical knowledge updates but also practical value for each participant. It includes modern approaches to diagnosis and risk stratification, surgical and locoregional treatment, liver transplantation, systemic therapy, as well as multidisciplinary clinical case discussions and practical master classes.
We are convinced that Liver Onco 2026 will become not just a conference, but a professional platform for forming new approaches, exchanging experience, and strengthening international cooperation. Such events create the basis for the development of modern surgery and oncology in Ukraine.
I invite you to join this event and become part of a professional dialogue that will determine the future of liver tumor treatment.
