Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has published a letter addressed to the American public, urging them to "look beyond political rhetoric" and reconsider their perception of his country. This was reported by Iranian state media, according to UNN, citing CNN.

Stating that the relationship between Iran and the United States is misunderstood, Pezeshkian emphasizes in the letter that Iran "has never in its modern history chosen the path of aggression, expansion, colonialism, or domination, and has never initiated any war."

- Pezeshkian questions whether the White House put "America first" in its actions in Iran, or acted as "Israel's intermediary";
- the relationship between Washington and Tehran is "misunderstood," he says;
- he argues that portraying Iran as a threat is inaccurate; Pezeshkian also warns that attacks on the Iranian people "have consequences that extend far beyond Iran's borders," which is apparently a veiled threat.

Earlier, Trump stated on Truth Social that the Iranian "president" had asked for a ceasefire.
But he said Washington would not "consider" this alleged request until the Strait of Hormuz was reopened.
The US will ignore the alleged ceasefire request and continue to "destroy Iran into oblivion" until the strait is "open, free, and clear," Trump said.
