Details

On September 27, in Zakarpattia, two border guards crossed the border with a neighboring country while on duty and never returned. However, this incident became known only after a court ruling against their colleague.

The court found the inspector on duty guilty of negligence in his military service, noting that he had made a false entry about communication with the patrol in his workbook, although there was no actual communication. The inspector himself explained this by the high workload and stated that he was physically unable to prevent the escape because he was in the unit.

According to the court, his actions were classified under Part 2 of Article 172-15 of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses. The inspector was fined UAH 17 thousand. It is known that the fugitives are residents of Sumy region.
