Ukrainian Special Forces destroyed a Russian TOS-1A heavy flamethrower system in Kherson region after it attacked Ukrainian positions. The destruction was documented by a drone video.

In the Kherson region, Ukrainian troops destroyed a Russian TOS-1A Soncepyok that was firing at the positions of the Defense Forces  in the Krynok area. This was reported by UNN with reference to the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The agency said that while conducting reconnaissance in the Kherson sector, the SSO operators discovered a Russian TOS-1A Soncepyok.

Using a flamethrower system, the enemy repeatedly attacked the positions of the Defense Forces in the area of Krynok, on the left bank of the Kherson region.

The SDF operators together with the servicemen of the 140th separate reconnaissance battalion of the Marines and the Security Service of Ukraine inflicted fire on the enemy target and destroyed the "Soncepyok"

The TOS-1A Solntsepyok is a 220-mm caliber heavy flamethrower system. It is built on the T-72 tank chassis and is based on the TOS-1 Buratino. 

The installation uses thermobaric unguided rockets that are 3700 mm long and 217 kg in weight.These rockets consist of a thermobaric or incendiary warhead, a fuze, and a solid propellant rocket motor.

It is stated that the effective range of the TOS-1A is approximately 6 km.
