The Disciplinary Chamber of the HCJ approved the dismissal of Judge Oleksiy Tandyr.

The Second Disciplinary Chamber of the High Council of Justice has unanimously approves dismissal of judge Oleksiy Tandyr, who is suspected of committing a fatal drunken car accident that killed a National Guard member. This decision was made at a meeting on Wednesday, UNN reports.

In favor - 3, against - 0. Thus, the Second Disciplinary Chamber (SDC) decided to bring judge Oleksiy Tandyr of Makariv District Court of Kyiv Region to disciplinary responsibility and impose a disciplinary sanction in the form of a motion to dismiss the judge from office

Recall

Judge Oleksiy Tandyr, then head of the Makariv District Court of Kyiv Region, was detained for a car accident on the night of May 26, 2023, in which a National Guard officer was run over to death at a checkpoint in the capital. The judge was detained on the spot.

The Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office reported to UNN that it had launched an investigation under Part 3 of Article 286-1 of the Criminal Code (Violation of the rules of road safety or operation of transport by persons driving vehicles while intoxicated, which led to the death of the victim).

At a meeting on May 27, the High Council of Justice granted the Deputy Prosecutor General's request for consent to the judge's detention. Judge Tandir was sent to custody. 

The judge himself stated that he was not drunk, but was in a state of shock after the accident.
