Georgia has extended the period of visa-free stay for Ukrainian citizens to three years, allowing them to enter and stay in the country without a visa for the full three years.

The Georgian government has increased the period of visa-free stay in the country for Ukrainian citizens to three years. This was reported by Echo of the Caucasus, according to UNN.

Details

The relevant amendments were made to the Government Resolution No. 255 "On Approval of the List of Countries Whose Citizens Can Enter Georgia Without a Visa" of June 5, 2015. According to the amendment, Ukrainian citizens are allowed to enter Georgia without a visa and stay in the country for a full three years.

Previously, this period was limited to one year, but in February 2023 it was extended to two years.

The rest of the list of countries for which the right of visa-free stay during the year is valid, including Russia, remained unchanged.

According to the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, as of October 2023, there were about 27 thousand Ukrainian citizens in Georgia.

Recall

As UNN previously reported , Georgia's prime minister claimsthat the controversial law on "foreign agents" is aimed at preventing "Ukrainization" and protecting the country's sovereignty, despite Western criticism that it contradicts EU norms.
