France plans to provide Ukraine with Aster 30 long-range missiles for SAMP-T ground and naval air defense systems as part of a military aid package.

France plans to add Aster 30 missiles for SAMP-T land-based and ship-based air defense systems to its military assistance package to Ukraine. This is reported by UNN with reference to the news agency of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine "ArmyInform".

Details

According to ArmyInform, citing a statement by French Defense Minister Sébastien Lecornu, France will provide Ukraine with, among other weapons, Aster 30 missiles used for Mamba SAMP-T air defense systems. These systems can fight aircraft and destroy anti-radar missiles.

The Aster 30 was developed by the EUROSAM consortium (France, Italy and the United Kingdom), which was created with the participation of leading European defense companies MBDA Missile Systems and THALES.

The following modifications of rocket projectiles are indicated:

The Aster 15 is designed for short and medium range;

Aster 30 is designed for a long range;

There is also the Aster Block 2 BMD, an anti-atmospheric interceptor missile.

According to the French Ministry of the Armed Forces, the army successfully fired two Aster anti-aircraft missiles. The firing took place as part of exercises to approximate the situation of a military operation.
