Four officials of Ukrzaliznytsia have been served suspicion notices of extortion for access to freight cars

Four employees of the "Departmental paramilitary security" of Ukrzaliznytsia JSC have been notified of being suspected of extortion. They are accused of receiving UAH 134 thousand for allowing unauthorized persons to enter freight cars.

Law enforcers served a notice of suspicion to the deputy head of the "Departmental paramilitary guard" of JSC Ukrzaliznytsia and three of his accomplices in extortion for allowing unauthorized persons to enter freight cars. This was reported on Tuesday by the press service of the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office, UNN reports.

Under the procedural supervision of the Pechersk District Prosecutor's Office of Kyiv, the Deputy Head of the Departmental Paramilitary Security Branch of JSC Ukrzaliznytsia and three employees of the branch were served a notice of suspicion of extortion of illegal benefit (Part 3 Art. 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine)

According to the investigation, from June to July 2024, the deputy head of the Departmental Paramilitary Security branch of Ukrzaliznytsia JSC, in prior conspiracy with a group of his subordinates, extorted money for allowing unauthorized persons to enter freight cars and not bringing to justice those who illegally entered the territory under their protection.

Law enforcers noted 4 facts of receiving unlawful benefit in the amount of UAH 134 thousand for not noticing unauthorized persons in the territory they are supposed to protect.

The defendants were detained during another money transfer.

They have now been served a notice of suspicion and a measure of restraint has been imposed.

The deputy head of the Departmental Paramilitary Security branch of Ukrzaliznytsia JSC was imposed a pre-trial restraint in the form of detention with the possibility of bail, while the other suspects will be kept under house arrest. 

The issue of suspending these persons from performing their official duties is also being resolved.

The sanction of the article provides for imprisonment from five to ten years with disqualification to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for up to three years, with confiscation of property.
