A former high-ranking official of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine in Crimea, who defected to the Russian Federation after the occupation, has been notified of suspicion of treason. He faces up to 15 years in prison for aiding the occupation authorities.
The head of the Investigation Department of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, who sided with the Russians after the occupation of the peninsula, was suspected of treason. This was reported by UNN with reference to the Prosecutor's Office of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and Simferopol.

Investigators found that after the occupation of the peninsula, the suspect betrayed his oath of allegiance to the people of Ukraine and joined the enemy, taking the position of "Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs for the Republic of Crimea - Head of the Investigation Department.
Under the procedural supervision of the autonomous prosecutor's office, the former first deputy head of the Main Department - head of the Investigation Department of the Main Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine in the AR of Crimea was served a notice of suspicion. He is charged with high treason (part 1 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) and faces up to 15 years in prison
