Foreign Ministry confirms killing of two Ukrainian soldiers in Germany

Two Ukrainian servicemen undergoing medical rehabilitation were killed in the German city of Murnau am Stafelsee, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine reports.

According to preliminary reports, the Ukrainian citizens killed in the German city of Murnau am Stafelsee were soldiers undergoing medical rehabilitation. Ukrainian consuls are clarifying information about the units in which the victims served and establishing contact with their families. This is stated in an official statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, UNN reports.

Reportedly, on April 27, two Ukrainian citizens, men born in 1987 and 2001, were killed by stab wounds in a local shopping center in Murnau am Stafelsee, Bavaria, Germany.

According to the Consulate General of Ukraine in Munich, the police of Garmisch-Partenkirchen detained a 57-year-old Russian citizen on suspicion of committing the double murder. The investigation is currently underway.

According to preliminary data, the deceased citizens were military personnel undergoing medical rehabilitation in Germany. Ukrainian consuls are clarifying information about the units in which the victims served and establishing contact with their families, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.

Ukraine's Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba instructed the MFA's Consular Service Department and the Consulate General in Munich to keep the case under special control and to be in constant contact with German law enforcement agencies to ensure that the killer is punished to the fullest extent of the law.

The Foreign Minister also expressed his gratitude to German law enforcement for the prompt detention of the suspect.
