Soldiers of the 423rd Unmanned Systems Regiment struck Russian Colonel Dmitry Shabayev while he was traveling in the Zaporizhzhia direction. He and the driver were seriously wounded.

Fighters from the 423rd Separate Unmanned Systems Regiment "Scythian Griffins" tracked and struck Russian Colonel Dmitry Shabayev – the regiment’s official media resource reports, according to UNN.
According to the participants in the operation, our intelligence identified the individual and tracked the movements of the Russian commander. While traveling in an official vehicle, Shabayev was struck at a distance of approximately 80 km from the line of contact by one of the UAV crews of the 423rd Separate Regiment. The driver and Shabayev himself sustained serious injuries and were urgently evacuated to one of the military hospitals of the Russian Federation.
Intelligence data confirm that it was Colonel Shabayev who was hit; he was inspecting one of the Russian command posts in the Zaporizhzhia direction. If military doctors manage to save him, then, given the nature of the injuries sustained, this colonel’s combat career appears to be over, the 423rd Separate Unmanned Systems Regiment says.
"After we became a separate regiment and our combat capabilities grew stronger, I set the guys a strategic task – to focus particularly on working against the command posts of enemy brigades and battalions. This is only the beginning; more is to come…" said the commander of the 423rd Separate Unmanned Systems Regiment, Colonel Vitalii Hersak.
According to Ukrainian intelligence, Dmitry Shabayev held the position of commander of the 64th Separate Guards Motor Rifle Brigade of the Ground Forces of the Russian Federation. Soldiers of the 64th Brigade were among those who committed war crimes in early 2022 in the city of Bucha and the village of Andriivka, Bucha district, Kyiv region.
The Russian 64th Separate Guards Motor Rifle Brigade is part of the 35th Combined Arms Army of the Russian Federation and is fighting as part of the southern grouping of Russian forces in the Zaporizhzhia and Dnipropetrovsk regions.
