On July 19, an unidentified person shot at Iryna Farion, a linguist and professor at Lviv Polytechnic. The woman was taken to the hospital with a head wound in an extremely serious condition. In the hospital, Iryna Farion died.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that on July 25, an 18-year-old man was detained in Dnipro , who is allegedly involved in the premeditated murder of Iryna Farion.
According to Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko, law enforcement officers have enough evidence to claim that it was an 18-year-old man detained in Dnipro who shot at linguist Iryna Farion. According to him, the investigation lasted 139 hours.
The police reported earlier that they had several versions of the murder of linguist Irina Farion, including public, political activity and personal animosity. Law enforcement officers found a shell casing after the shooting and do not rule out a "Russian trace" in the crime.
