The government of Estonia will not force Ukrainian men living in the country to return to Ukraine to serve in the Armed Forces.

So far, Kyiv has not asked Tallinn to help mobilize Ukrainian men who are on Estonian territory. This is reported by Postimees with reference to the head of the Department of Border and Migration Policy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Estonia, Janek Mägi, UNN.

Details

According to the Estonian official, Tallinn discussed with the Ukrainian ambassador the issue of returning Ukrainian men from Estonia to their homeland.

He emphasized that Ukraine has no grounds to talk about extraditing men of military age who entered Estonia.

Ukraine has no legal grounds to ask us to extradite these citizens, and we have no grounds to extradite them

 - answered Mägi in response to question about how the situation with the attitude towards potential reservists of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, who were accepted by Estonia, has changed.

Addendum

Earlier, UNN wrote that in an interview with a German publication, Ukraine's Defense Minister said that Ukraine plans to offer men abroad, including in Germany, aged 25-60 to voluntarily report to military recruiting stations for military service in 2024.

According to the minister, potential sanctions for non-compliance with this requirement are already being discussed .
