Environmental inspectors find out the degree of pollution of Teteriv waters after detecting a discharge with a fecal odor

An unauthorized discharge of wastewater with a fecal odor into a stream that flows into the Teteriv River was detected in Zhytomyr Oblast. Environmental inspectors have taken water samples for analysis and will take response measures.
In Zhytomyr Oblast, environmentalists are investigating the potential pollution of the Teteriv River. Earlier, sewage with a characteristic odor was recorded in a stream that flows into the Teteriv. An unauthorized wastewater discharge was discovered on the outskirts of the village of Sloboda-Selets near Zhytomyr. It was a gray liquid with a fecal odor. The discharge went through a pipe into a stream that flows under the M21 highway and into the Teteriv River.
Responding to reports from local residents who discovered the illegal discharge, specialists from the State Ecological Inspectorate of the Polissia District found out about the possibility of potential pollution of the water body.

In order to establish the fact of possible pollution, water samples were taken at the discharge site, as well as upstream and downstream of the stream. Currently, the specialists of the Instrumental and Laboratory Control Department are conducting laboratory tests of the collected samples,” the press service of the Polissya District State Environmental Inspectorate reports.
Subsequently, the Inspectorate will take response measures in accordance with the requirements of the current legislation of Ukraine.
