Deputy Defense Minister of Ukraine meets with delegation of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in Washington, D.C.: discusses strategic partnership

The Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine discussed with the delegation of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers the strengthening of strategic partnership in the field of defense construction, mine clearance and infrastructure security.
Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine for European Integration Oleksandr Balanutsa met with a delegation of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers led by Brigadier General John Lloyd, commander of the North Atlantic Division.

The meeting discussed ways to strengthen the strategic relationship between the State Service of Ukraine for Civil Defense and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The main focus was on addressing common challenges in the areas of defense construction, mine deactivation, and security of critical infrastructure.
The experience of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will help transform the State Special Transport Service. The application of the practices and organizational models of American engineers will help to increase the efficiency of the State Special Transport Service. We are ready to use the experience of our partners to rapidly develop our services
In addition, the delegations reviewed the progress of existing U.S.-assisted projects and outlined areas for future expansion.
The partnership between our two organizations is mutually beneficial for both countries, and we look forward to continuing our dialogue. We hope to meet again in person soon to define our long-term goals and vision in more detail
A separate topic was education, namely the training and advanced training of Ukrainian specialists in the field of design, construction, and control. Specific agreements were also reached on this issue.
The centuries-old practice of the U.S. Corps of Engineers in performing demining tasks, construction and reconstruction of infrastructure, including special-purpose facilities, will allow us to quickly adapt to the challenges of today's full-scale Russian invasion and acquire the capacity to implement plans for the restoration of our country
