Five Ukrainian citizens were returned from places of detention in Belarus thanks to communication between the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights and the Belarusian side

There is no final, general figure on how many more Ukrainian citizens remain in detention centers in Belarus, but communication with the Belarusian side continues.

This was stated by the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights Dmytro Lubinets during a press conference, UNN reports .

For the first time, we managed to return five Ukrainian citizens from the territory of Belarus. I can say publicly that at least some channel, communication, has been established with the Belarusian side... I do not have a final figure, a total figure of how many more Ukrainian citizens remain in detention on the territory of Belarus. But we continue to communicate with the Belarusian side

In addition, the Ombudsman stated that there is a difference in the attitude of Russians and Belarusians to civilian Ukrainians.

Even in the details. We brought back civilians from both places, and we talked to them. We even saw their physical condition. Citizens of Ukraine from the territory of Belarus did not talk about torture or beatings. They said that they were treated normally. Yes, we believe and legally interpret that they were illegally convicted, but there was no torture, there were more or less normal conditions of detention, there was normal food. This was even evident in their appearance. I personally even physically took one girl away, because it was a condition of the Belarusian side

- Lubinets said.

According to him,  did all the legal aspects under him.

"Lukashenko's decree on pardon was read out, and all the documents were given back. They even returned the money that was on the girl's personal account. When we asked our civilians how the Russian side returned them, they did not give us any documents, and you saw the state of torture they returned in..." Lubinets said.
