Bulgaria extends support program for Ukrainian refugees

The Bulgarian government has extended its support program for Ukrainian refugees until the end of 2024. Of the 2.5 million Ukrainians who entered the country, about 55,000 remain there, including more than 6,000 who receive state aid.

The Bulgarian government has decided to extend the support program for Ukrainian refugees until 2025. This was reported by the Ministry of Reintegration with reference to The Sofia Globe, UNN reports.

It is noted that the term of the assistance mechanism, which provides for state payments for accommodation for refugees from Ukraine, has been extended until December 31, 2024.

Since the full-scale invasion of Russia, almost 2.5 million Ukrainians have entered Bulgaria. Of these, more than 180 thousand people were registered under the EU temporary protection scheme.

Currently, according to the Ministry of Reintegration, about 55 thousand Ukrainians remain in Bulgaria. More than 6,000 people have been resettled under the state scheme.
