British security service representatives at a conference in Glasgow reported an increase in cyber threats from other states, as they believe more and more countries are gaining access to cyber intrusion tools. This is reported by Politico, according to UNN.

Details

According to the publication, more than half of the world's nation-states have acquired technologies that can be used to hack into critical infrastructure, companies, and private networks in the UK.

In addition, the UK's National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC), which is part of the Government Communications Headquarters (GCHQ), notes that about 100 countries already have cyber intrusion software, indicating that the barrier for states to acquire this technology is decreasing.

Commercial hacking technologies, often referred to as spyware, have become a rapidly growing market over the past two decades. Products such as NSO's Pegasus and Intellexa's Predator have been used to attack journalists and political dissidents around the world. The NCSC stated that the scope of spyware has "expanded" in recent years, with bankers and wealthy executives increasingly becoming targets.

Recall

Earlier, UNN reported that a small group of unauthorized users gained access to Anthropic PBC's new Mythos artificial intelligence model, which the company claims could facilitate dangerous cyberattacks.
