Azerbaijan is ready to supply gas to Ukraine if necessary and continues working to expand cooperation in the energy sector. Azerbaijan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov said this at a joint press conference with Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha, UNN reports
I would like to emphasize once again that energy cooperation between our countries is one of the important areas of economic cooperation between Azerbaijan and Ukraine. Speaking about energy cooperation, first of all, I would like to note that Azerbaijan’s state-owned company SOCAR has been present on the Ukrainian market for decades, and SOCAR continues its activities in Ukraine very actively to this day. And I will tell you even more: SOCAR also has major plans for the future in terms of energy cooperation between Azerbaijan and Ukraine, while a very dynamic and active dialogue is continuing between the capitals and between colleagues regarding mutually beneficial additional areas of energy cooperation between Azerbaijan and Ukraine
In addition, he said that Azerbaijan already supplies natural gas to a number of European countries and is also ready to expand cooperation with Ukraine.
Today, Azerbaijan supplies gas to sixteen countries around the world, twelve of which are European, and ten of those twelve are EU member states. From this point of view, we will also be happy to supply gas to friendly Ukraine if necessary
It will be recalled
Prime Minister Serhii Koretskyi stated that the unmet needs of the energy sector amount to approximately EUR 650 million. The Ukraine Energy Support Fund has already accumulated more than EUR 2 billion.
